In June, the Tun Mustapha Marine Park and shark sanctuary will officially open. Covering 1.6 million hectares and including 50 islands, it will be the biggest marine protected area in Malaysia.

The Regional Secretariat of the Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries, and Food Security (CTI-CFF) has formalized collaborations with Germany to work together in managing the Sulu-Sulawesi Seascape across three CTI-CFF member countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines. This partnership was marked today by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is implementing the German contribution to the program.

As a response to the urgent threats facing coastal and marine resources in one of the most biologically diverse and ecologically rich regions on earth, and to promote regional cooperation, sharing of lessons, and facilitate learning across the Six Coral Triangle countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Solomon Islands, Timor-Leste), the Regional Secretariat of CTI-CFF is opening vacant positions as:
1. DEPUTY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR of Corporate Services
An internal 2-day workshop on Branding and Communication of CTI-CFF Regional Secretariat will be held at the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF) Office Indonesia, on 28-29 January 2016.
The workshop is expected to:
1. Update the existing CTI-CFF Communication Strategy Design and Work Plan in accordance with the latest SOM11 decisions in Manado, 2015;
2. Review the recommended and endorsed relevant Guidelines suggested by the SOM11;
