CT6 member countries continue to meet to discuss the finalization of the draft Regional Plan of Action (RPOA 2.0). As of March 2021, the CTI-CFF Monitoring and Evaluation Working Group has agreed on most of the three objectives—A, B, and C—and their corresponding Targets, Outcomes, and Outputs. Additionally, 16 out of the 18 Regional Activities identified have been agreed upon, along with the majority of their Outcomes and Outputs.

Training of Trainers (ToT) on MPAs and Sharks & Rays Planned for Early April

The Regional Secretariat circulated the invitation and announcement from the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF) and WWF regarding the Pre-Symposium Workshop on 5–6 April 2021: Training of Trainers (ToT) WWF Shark and Ray: MPA for Sharks & Rapid Assessment Tool (RAT).

RS ED, New Member of ICRI’s Ad hoc Reef Restoration Committee

Dr. Mohd Kushairi Mohd Rajuddin, Executive Director of the CTI-CFF Regional Secretariat, is now a member of the International Coral Reef Initiative (ICRI)’s Ad hoc Reef Restoration Committee. This ad hoc committee on reef restoration was established in response to disturbances affecting coral reefs, particularly thermal stress-induced global mass coral bleaching events and climate projections indicating that sea temperatures will exceed the thermal tolerances of corals.

RS Staff Deepen Understanding of Coral Reefs and Mangrove Habitats (Team-building Exercise)

In an effort to deepen their understanding of coastal and marine habitats such as coral reefs and mangroves, the RS Staff conducted a field trip to Siladen and Bunaken islands as part of a team-building activity. At the islands, staff went snorkeling to observe the coral reefs.
