Representatives of the Host Country Agreement and the CTI-CFF Regional Secretariat held a coordination meeting on 29 April 2021. Mr. Antoine Nouvet (left), First Secretary of Political Affairs for Indonesia, Malaysia, and Timor-Leste at the Canadian Embassy in Jakarta, paid a courtesy visit to the CTI-CFF Regional Secretariat Executive Director, Dr. Mohd Kushairi Mohd Rajuddin, on 29 April 2021.

Mr. Nouvet expressed interest in learning more about the CTI-CFF and the Regional Secretariat. Dr. Kushairi provided detailed information, including current and future initiatives of the CTI-CFF.

CTI-CFF commits support and cooperation to restore the world’s ecosystems

The Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries, and Food Security (CTI-CFF), through its Regional Secretariat, joins all member nations in celebrating Earth Day with this year’s theme: “Restore Our Earth.”

Representatives from the member countries—Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Solomon Islands, and Timor-Leste—with Indonesia participating as an observer, met virtually on 19–20 April 2020 to continue the review and finalization of the draft Host Country Agreement.

The SUFIA Participatory Local Organizational Capacity Assessment (PLOCA) survey results were presented by SUFIA RTI International during a plenary online meeting on 22 April 2021. The meeting also shared recommendations for capacity development activities aimed at strengthening CTI-CFF in the areas of compliance, performance, and viability, and included an introductory session on organizational sustainability.

The CTI-CFF congratulates and warmly welcomes the new leaders and representatives of member countries to the Council of Ministers, the Committee of Senior Officials, and the National Coordinating Committee. CTI-CFF looks forward to further strengthening linkages and cooperation.

H.E. Sakti Wahyu Trenggono has been appointed as the Minister of Indonesia’s Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries and is the new Indonesian representative to the Council of Ministers.

The representatives from the six member countries (CT6) of CTI-CFF have begun meetings on the establishment of the CTI-CFF Regional Conservation Trust Fund (RCTF) with experts from the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) and the Conservation Finance Alliance (CFA). In the series of RCTF meetings that started in January 2021, Dr. David Meyers of CFA discussed the roles and responsibilities of WCS/CFA, the proposed mission, budget requirements, draft terms of reference for the Technical Committee and Advisory Board, and the governance structure. Dr.
