Indonesia, June 2020 – The Coral Triangle Center (CTC), in collaboration with the Asia Dive Expo (ADEX), conducted a webinar that brought together experts including Ms. Rili Djohani of CTC, Dr. Alan White of the USAID SEA Project, Dr. Mohd Kushairi Mohd Rajuddin of the CTI-CFF Regional Secretariat, and Ms. Jackie Thomas of WWF. The session focused on biodiversity, marine protected areas, plastic pollution, and collaborative efforts to protect the Coral Triangle.

The webinar was held on June 9, 2020, and streamed live on the ADEX Pixel Virtual Expo Facebook page.

Indonesia, June 2020 – The Regional Secretariat of CTI-CFF, in coordination with WWF and youth organizations Kids for Kids (Philippines) and Sea Soldier North Sulawesi (Indonesia), conducted a webinar to raise awareness on the adverse impact of marine litter, especially plastic waste. The session also shed light on ocean conservation, the well-being of Coral Triangle communities, and highlighted the impactful work of youth organizations in the Philippines and Indonesia.

Manado, Indonesia, June 2020 – In celebration of Coral Triangle Day, the six member countries of the Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries and Food Security (CTI-CFF)—namely, Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Solomon Islands, and Timor-Leste—agreed to work together and call for unified collaborative actions to address the pressing global problem of marine plastic pollution.

2 – 4 June 2020 – The CTI-CFF Regional Secretariat (RS) is taking steps toward adopting various methods to reduce dependence on country contributions as the main source of funding for RS activities supporting the CT6 countries. This includes adopting the practice of sustainable financing through the development of a Conservation Trust Fund.
