Cross-Cutting Initiatives (CCI): Integrating Knowledge, Innovation, and Regional Collaboration Across the Coral Triangle
The Cross-Cutting Initiatives reflect CTI-CFF’s commitment to comprehensive, integrated, and future-ready regional governance. By strengthening knowledge systems, enhancing visibility, improving monitoring, and supporting inclusive and collaborative processes, the CCIs empower Member Parties to effectively implement the RPOA 2.0 and address emerging challenges across the Coral Triangle.
Two Cross-Cutting Initiative under CTI-CFF
1. Women Leader Forum (WLF)
2. Sustainable Business Forum (SBF)
As CTI-CFF continues to advance regional cooperation, the CCIs will remain essential in ensuring that the Initiative operates with strong institutional foundations, robust data systems, and inclusive regional leadership—protecting the Coral Triangle’s ecosystems and supporting the communities who depend on them for generations to come.
Governance Working Groups (GWGs): Strengthening Regional Coordination and Institutional Leadership Across the Coral Triangle
To support this mandate, CTI-CFF established a set of Governance Working Groups (GWGs) that focus specifically on strengthening institutional processes, leadership, coordination mechanisms, and partnership engagement across the Coral Triangle region. These groups complement the Technical Working Groups (TWGs) by ensuring that the administrative and governance dimensions of regional cooperation remain effective, transparent, and aligned with the CTI-CFF’s Regional Plan of Action (RPOA) 2.0 (2021–2030).

Technical Working Groups (TWGs): Strengthening Regional Collaboration
As a multilateral partnership uniting six nations—Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Solomon Islands, and Timor-Leste—the Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries, and Food Security (CTI-CFF) relies on strong technical cooperation to achieve its regional goals. To support this mandate, CTI-CFF established a set of Technical Working Groups (TWGs), which function as the core technical and advisory bodies responsible for guiding the implementation of the Regional Plan of Action (RPOA) 2.0 (2021–2030). The TWGs ensure that CTI-CFF’s regional actions are grounded in science, supported by evidence, and aligned with shared priorities across the Coral Triangle region.
Five Technical Working Groups Under CTI-CFF
1. Seascapes
2. Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management (EAFM)
3. Marine Protected Area Working Group (MPA)
4. Climate Change Adaptation Working Group (CCA)
5. Threatened Species Working Group (TS)
CTI-CFF operates five TWGs, each aligned with thematic priorities under the RPOA 2.0. Together, they cover the ecological, socioeconomic, and governance dimensions of marine management across the Coral Triangle.
