Meeting with Mr. John Parks, Chief of Party from the USAID Oceans

Mr. John Parks, Chief of Party from the USAID Oceans and team met with the CTI-CFF Regional Secretariat led by Dr. Hendra Yusran Siry, Interim Executive Director, on 15 November 2018 in Manado, Indonesia. Mr. Parks discussed the proposed Sulu-Sulawesi Sub-regional EAFM Plan, which focuses on enabling the Sulu-Sulawesi Marine Eco-region (SSME) to achieve a common fisheries management vision by 2030. The proposed sub-regional plan is to be submitted for possible adoption at the forthcoming CTI-CFF Senior Officials’ Meeting in December 2018 in Manila, Philippines.

M. Zulficar Mochtar, Director General of Capture Fisheries of Indonesia’s Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, paid a visit to the CTI-CFF Regional Secretariat on 15 November 2018. Dir. Gen. Mochtar met with Dr. Hendra Yusran Siry, Interim Executive Director, to discuss ways the two agencies can work together to address illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing in North Sulawesi in particular, and in Indonesia in general.

The CTI-CFF Regional Secretariat, led by Dr. Hendra Yusran Siry, Interim Executive Director, paid a courtesy visit to the Hon. Olly Dondokambey, Governor of North Sulawesi, in Manado on 15 November 2018. Dr. Siry shared with Hon. Dondokambey the programs and projects of the CTI-CFF Regional Secretariat and expressed interest in working with and supporting the Governor in marine-related activities aligned with the mission of CTI. Hon. Dondokambey warmly welcomed the CTI-CFF RS team and offered his full support to the initiatives of the CTI-CFF.
