A television public service announcement (PSA) to raise awareness about marine resource conservation began airing in the Solomon Islands in August 2012. This PSA is the first of a three-part series to be released throughout the year, highlighting the richness of the Solomon Islands’ marine resources, the threats they face, and the programs being implemented to address these issues through the Coral Triangle Initiative (CTI).
The TV campaign targets politicians, decision-makers, and opinion leaders in urban areas and will be expanded in 2013 to include radio segments reaching rural communities. The campaign is supported by USAID’s Coral Triangle Support Partnership (CTSP) in collaboration with the Solomon Islands Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology.
