In a significant stride towards fostering sustainable marine practices, the Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries, and Food Security (CTI-CFF) and the Blue Institute have signed a landmark collaboration agreement. The ceremony, held on 14 March 2023 at the Seychelles Mission in Jakarta, was attended by Dr. Frank Griffin, Executive Director of CTI-CFF Regional Secretariat; H.E. Dr. Nico Barito, Founder & Chair of Blue Institute; and Mr. Owen Rahadiyan, Commissioner of Blue Institute Nusantara. This agreement marks a major milestone in collaborative efforts for marine conservation.
Witnessed by H.E. Mr. Wahyu Sakti Trenggono, Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of Indonesia and CTI-CFF Council of Ministers member, as well as Mr. Retsuo Fukudai, President Director of Japan JTrust Bank, the partnership was formally established. Blue Institute Ltd., operating under the laws of the Republic of Seychelles, leads this collaborative effort. The partnership aims to coordinate and support the organization of the Global Blue Economy Conference during Coral Triangle Day in June 2024.
Through this collaboration, both entities aspire to enhance the impact of conservation initiatives, foster sustainable economic growth, and advocate for responsible management of marine resources. The conference will also highlight the vital role of the Coral Triangle Conservation Fund (CTCF) in supporting diverse conservation activities across the Coral Triangle region.
Present at the signing were Dr. Yang Mee Eng, CEO of CTCF; Mr. Christovel R.S. Rotinsulu, Deputy Executive Director for Program Services at CTI-CFF; and Mr. Hanung Cahyono, Deputy Executive Director for Corporate Services at CTI-CFF.
