CTC Center for Marine Conservation Opens Exhibition Hall in Sanur, Bali
The first exhibition space in Indonesia dedicated entirely to marine protection and conservation officially opened in Sanur, Bali on May 20, 2023. The exhibition explores the fusion of art, science, culture, and marine conservation. Large-scale art installations showcase the creativity of Indonesian and international artists, highlighting the beauty of the ocean and charismatic marine life in the Coral Triangle region, while presenting solutions to climate change and plastic pollution. Visitors can participate in coral adoption, online courses, field trips, and interactive learning activities.
The exhibition is managed by the Coral Triangle Center (CTC) Center for Marine Conservation, a CTI-CFF partner whose dedication and tireless efforts have been instrumental in advancing the collective mission of protecting the Coral Triangle's ecosystems. CTC continues to provide valuable support, knowledge sharing, and capacity-building initiatives to the CTI-CFF Secretariat and its member countries.
Dr. Mohd. Kushairi Bin Mohd. Rajuddin, Executive Director of CTI-CFF Regional Secretariat, remarked at the opening: “As we explore this Exhibition Hall, let us reflect upon the significance of our collective responsibility to safeguard the Coral Triangle's rich marine heritage. The oceans are not only a source of immense beauty but also vital resources that sustain livelihoods and communities. By fostering collaboration and nurturing a deeper connection with our oceans, we can pave the way toward a sustainable and vibrant future.”
Through this exhibition, CTC aims to showcase the oceans' beauty and significance in daily life and for the future. Using art, science, culture, and technology, the exhibition highlights threats to marine ecosystems while offering interactive solutions. Rili Djohani, Executive Director of CTC, expressed her hope that visitors will be inspired and motivated to take action to protect the seas and the life within.
