ATSEA 2 Project Team Pays Courtesy Visit to the Regional Secretariat

On 14 October 2020, Dr. Handoko Adi Susanto, Regional Project Manager of the ATSEA-2 Project, together with his team – Ms. Casandra Tani and Ms. Deti Triani – paid a courtesy visit to the Regional Secretariat.

The visit aimed to formally introduce the ATSEA 2 project activities and team members, understand the recent progress of CTI-CFF regional collaboration, explore common interests and issues between CTI-CFF and ATSEA 2, and identify opportunities for collaboration.

The ATSEA 2 project covers three Coral Triangle member countries – Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and Timor–Leste – and is supported by PEMSEA under GEF funding. Key commitments of the project include contributing to ecosystem approach to fisheries management (EAFM); designing and designating two new marine protected areas – off the coast of Papua New Guinea and the south coast of Timor-Leste; developing a regional MPA network and regional action plan for enhanced protection of endangered marine turtles; and improving scientific knowledge on the impacts of climate change.
