Manado, Indonesia, 17 November 2018 – The CTI-CFF Regional Secretariat Interim Executive Director Dr. Hendra Yusran Siry and his team recently paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of North Sulawesi, Mr. Olly Dondokambey, to discuss synergy and partnership between the CTI-CFF and the North Sulawesi Provincial Government.
The CTI-CFF Regional Secretariat, located in Manado, North Sulawesi, has enjoyed the support of provincial and local governments as well as the academic community through university partnerships, including the University of Sam Ratulangi, and plans to extend similar partnerships with the local government.
Particularly, Dr. Siry mentioned that the support of the North Sulawesi government in the commemoration of the 10th founding anniversary of the CTI-CFF would be valuable as a manifestation of the direct involvement of North Sulawesi and Indonesia in general in the conservation and management of marine wealth and biodiversity in the Coral Triangle Region.
Dr. Siry added that CTI-CFF would also like to partner with the North Sulawesi government in conducting meetings, workshops, and other activities that would further promote not only CTI goals but also the aspirations of the North Sulawesi government.
Governor Dondokambey has expressed his support for CTI’s initiatives and plans and noted that the Office of the Governor is always open to assist in the best possible way. He particularly welcomed the partnership between the organizations to work together toward managing and preserving marine biological resources in the province.

About CTI-CFF
The Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries, and Food Security (CTI-CFF) is a multilateral partnership of six countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Solomon Islands, and Timor-Leste (CT6). The CT6 countries work together to sustain extraordinary marine and coastal resources by addressing crucial issues such as food security, climate change, and marine biodiversity.
CTI-CFF was formally established during the Leaders’ Summit in 2009 with approval from the CT6 country leaders. They adopted the CTI Regional Plan of Action (CTI RPOA), a strategic plan with five goals: (1) designation of effectively managed seascapes; (2) application of an ecosystem approach to fisheries management; (3) establishment of a fully functional marine protected area system; (4) strengthening climate change adaptation and resilience; and (5) improving the status of threatened marine species.
About Regional Secretariat
The Regional Secretariat (RS) of the CTI-CFF is mandated to promote regional cooperation, knowledge sharing, and learning facilities within the six member countries of the Coral Triangle. The RS coordinates and monitors the progress of the Regional Plan of Action (RPOA) goals. It supports official meetings and events linked to the CTI-CFF process, including monitoring and evaluation, financial coordination, information management, and outreach. The RS also acts as a channel for communication, information sharing, and networking among Parties, CTI Partners, and other organizations and donors to promote CTI-CFF objectives.
