CTI-CFF, through the Regional Secretariat, attended the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS)–KfW European Union Stakeholders’ Meeting on 23 February 2020, held at the CTI Center Building in Manado, Indonesia.
Dr. Mohd Kushairi Mohd Rajuddin, Executive Director of the CTI-CFF Regional Secretariat, in his welcome remarks, acknowledged WCS for including CTI-CFF as one of its project partners on marine biodiversity, coastal livelihoods, and coastal fisheries in the Coral Triangle. He also noted that CTI-CFF looks forward to the project’s plans in supporting existing CTI-CFF initiatives.
Dr. Matthew Linkie, Deputy Country Director of the WCS Indonesia Program, stated that they are exploring ways to be an active partner of CTI-CFF, particularly in the development of marine protected areas (MPAs), fisheries management, and sustainable conservation financing mechanisms.
The WCS meeting also featured a message from Dr. Christine Heimburger, Director for East Asia/Pacific of KfW Development Bank, who noted that CTI-CFF, as a partner of WCS, can play an important role in facilitating regional exchanges of experience, bringing experts together, and sharing knowledge among countries.
Meanwhile, H.E. Vincent Piket, EU Ambassador to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam, emphasized CTI-CFF’s support for WCS activities by helping expand the project to other areas and strengthening its implementation on the ground.
